CSAKIS Tábor, or family camp for the sake of this blog, was Wednesday through Sunday. This is the third annual family camp we have helped host here in Romania. We eat together, hike, play games, listen to lectures, worship, and grow as a family in this restful environment. This year our camp was held in Zetavár, a small mountain area known for its beauty.

Going into the camp this year, we had our usual prayer requests: safe travel, good weather, and good response/growth from all the families involved. The difference now is, we have our first child. She is almost five months old, and we will be participating, driving 3 hours, and leading worship with this little blessing. I hope you enjoy our post about this wonderful opportunity to love on our marriage and family as we also seek to foster growth in other marriages and families. Prep day – Tuesday, Aug. 31
The music has been picked, the materials have been bought and put together. Today is the day we pack the car and prayerfully prepare! We are excited and exhausted. Zoë, our newest addition to the family, did not sleep through the night, so along with packing, we will nap. Once the snacks are made, and the music equipment, other supplies, and our bags are packed, we hope to leave for camp with nothing to do but have coffee and head out. To learn more about the camp, you can visit csakis.net. We keep the photos from previous years plus a summary on this site all year round! The funniest thing about packing so far is this is the first year we’ve packed toys for a baby 👶 . The weather expected is full of rain with a side of chilliness, so sweaters and papucs (slippers – “Pap-ooch” in Hungarian) here we come.

Theme: A way out of the maze of our temper | A virtual “temperament guide” for marriage by Petrőczy Kata
Our Roles: Generally in these camps we help with planning, lead worship, and support the camp leaders along the way in whatever ways possible.
Takeaways: All the participants seemed encouraged and we saw or heard stories of growth and appreciation from so many people who attended this camp. In 2022 we plan on holding 2 camps to cater to both english and Hungarian speakers separately and in order to bring these biblical principles into more families and marriages.
